FurCarer CGM for Pets

The FurCarer CGM for Pets is a continuous glucose monitoring system designed exclusively for use in cats and dogs . It provides continuous, real-time glucose data, supporting veterinary monitoring and collaboration between veterinarian and owner.

The small, discreet sensor is applied with a one-step applicator and records glucose values in the interstitial fluid for up to 14 days, without the need for daily blood draws.

Data is displayed via an easy-to-use app for the owner and a clinical dashboard for the veterinarian, allowing for continuous trend monitoring and evidence-based assessment.

Main Benefits

  • Continuous real-time glucose monitoring
  • Designed specifically for the physiology of cats & dogs
  • Reduced stress for the pet
  • Supporting veterinarian-owner collaboration
  • Suitable for use at home or in clinical monitoring settings

How it works

  • The sensor is placed subcutaneously and measures glucose in the interstitial fluid.
  • Measurements are recorded automatically every few minutes
  • Data is transmitted wirelessly to the pet owner via the FurCarer app
  • The veterinarian has access to complete glucose curves and trends through the FurLink app and the professional web portal (Vet Professional Dashboard).

FurCarer CGM provides monitoring information and does not replace veterinary evaluation or blood tests where these are deemed necessary.

FurCarer CGM supports:

  • Monitoring glucose trends
  • Identifying possible hypo- or hyperglycemic episodes
  • Reducing the need for in-clinic glucose curves
  • Remote monitoring, where appropriate

The final clinical decision is made exclusively by the treating veterinarian.

Technical Specifications

  • Sensor duration: up to 14 days
  • Glucose range: 36 – 756 mg/dL
  • Warm-up time: ~30 minutes
  • Data transfer: every 3 minutes
  • Waterproofing: IPX7
  • Design: disposable (all-in-one)

Sensor Application Area

  • Choose an area of skin that remains generally flat during daily activities (no bending or folding).
  • Choose a spot that is at least 2.5 cm away from the insulin injection site. The ideal location varies from pet to pet.
  • Over time you will find out which position is best for you. It also depends on whether you are a dog or a cat. Cats are more flexible and less tolerant of anything extra on their skin.
  • Choose a spot that your pet is less likely to reach and where they don't usually lie down, especially if you have a large dog. Pressure on the sensor can cause falsely low readings ("compression low").
  • In dogs, the shoulder blade area or the lower back can be selected.
  • For small dogs and cats, placement on the lower back is recommended.

Although the FurCarer is well tolerated by most pets, the duration of use cannot be guaranteed, as there is a possibility that your pet may bite or detach it. It is recommended to use appropriate protective measures for greater stability (clothing, compression bandage, collar, postoperative jumpsuit). Every pet is different, so the method of fixation should be adapted to their needs.
If FurCarer CGM readings are not consistent with the pet's clinical picture or symptoms, confirmation with a blood glucose meter is recommended before any treatment decision is made.
